Bravo Bravo Bravo. X take your bow. This was tremendous. You put us in the hearing.
I will try to explain a few things. Bondi can’t run away from the fact that they didn’t release these names. These men are monsters punks scum maggots.
The torture email all that was disgusting. All those emails were disgusting. They were talking about their attraction to children. It sounded like a pedofile convention. They should focus on that. Why were those men protected? Why were those names protected. I could give a fuck about Politics when it comes to that. The gaslight to the stock market is simple that’s a hey do you like your money???? Then shut up. and that’s one of the biggest reasons Trump got elected. She knew what she was doing there. Prosecutors ask questions they know the answer to. When saying the Parties Trump attended. They were putting Trump at Epstein Parties because they viewed redacted files. So that moment was clear as day. Makes me wonder about the Blanche quote saying it’s not a crime to party with Pedophiles. So Lieu knew what he was doing. He had the information and he wanted to see if she would perjure herself. I wanna say Merrick Garland is a Coward for not releasing these files. He’s just as bad as Bondi. No politics. Just Justice for the Victims. Thank you X.
I snapped a long, long time ago. I cannot stomach that person; I watched her in a Senate hearing a while back and she infuriated me then. I'm glad I didn't watch. I'd be buying a new TV.
Thank you for spelling it out. Many don't have the time to watch the hearings, so to have it described in length here is such a gift! I hope some good will come of this, and bravo to the congresspeople who put Bondi in the witness stand and nailed her over and over.
Thank you for this. I only caught snippets of what went on.
One of those snippets was this, and I quote from your essay - report:
• Rep. Jerrold Nadler asks how many Epstein co-conspirators have been indicted. The record presented today says: zero.
Now here is where I have a concern about the process (and similar to processes where I've had to testify on very different and local matters, usually before a politely more or less attentive municipal council) and that is time limits. They are essential I understand. I tend toward verbosity and I am not even a politician and others have things to say as well. But they do impede a full fleshing out of issues, even when they don't devolve into puerile screamfests.
Nadler asked about as simple a question as he could. Bondi's answer should have been something like "None so far." But that would have led to obvious more questions about intentions, why not, and so on. Every politician is taught how to avoid direct answers when those answers will cause loss of political support among voters, and in cases like these hearings, they understand the importance of trying to run out the clock, as do senior officials like Bondi.
The problem is that it ALL becomes theatre, from both sides, and what it illustrates will vary from viewer to viewer. To you, me, and anyone decent as the term is defined, Bondi's testimony, or lack thereof, was incredibly shameful, a disgrace to her office, to the people she is supposed to serve.
And that is a problem I have with federal politicians all too often.
The people pay Bondi's salary, pay to allow her to be what she seems to think she is by right...a very influential and power-given individual.
All she really is, or should be, is a servant. Same with every elected politician. But, more in the U.S. than here in Canada, but bad here, too, for sure, politicians with senior positions receive enormous degrees of name recognition, aka fame, and hold vast power, whatever their party, compared to rest of the citizenry, and they are subsequently catered to, and often admired. And I fear it goes to the heads of most...not all...but most. Those who remain grounded are often vilified as "socialists" because, in effect, they remember the people who actually fuel, not run, but fuel, the economy by virtue of relatively lower paying and vastly less prestigious jobs -- the jobs we all need. No billionaire has ever fixed my car engine, cut my hair, shovelled my snow or given my house a new roof...nor did any teach me when I was a student, or take care of me when I was ill, or yes, protected me from crime.
That last is Bondi's job and she won't do it because her interest is directed entirely inward, and that was obvious to any reasonably intelligent person who read your essay (thank you again) or saw even the snippets I saw on news shows. Bondi IS a politicians in the sense that she serves political interest. A GOP defeat is a Bondi defeat, so while not elected she is entirely political and unavoidably famous, or notorious
There is no shame, I suggest, because Bondi is part of a coup, a cabal, a collective group of people who want the U.S. to be entirely different than it was, or than the Founders envisioned it to become. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I think this is a conspiracy that probably won't work because of Trump's insanity, but it could. It all depends on how law enforcement agencies, by which I mean not only police -- they concern me least of all -- but ICE, the military, and all such services...the guys and gals with guns and bombs, react if ever it becomes the showdown that I see forming, clearly, between the conspirators and the public majority.
And what I think, incorrectly I hope, is that what is wanted by those conspirators is a fascist government in fact but not in name, that is based on white male supremacy, where might makes right. I think that, because that is what I daily see happening. Trump is open about his admiration for dictators and racists, and so are his followers, his "staff" if you will...people like Bondi, even if it means the subjugation of women and children...all in service of an elite, so defined by their absurd wealth, their willingness to crush innocents who get in their way. They are, some, brilliant, but twisted. Elon Musk is perhaps the perfect example, as he so gleefully and thoughtlessly ruined lives, and his pettiness in whining about any pushback at all. But he, like Trump and Vance and Miller and others are extreme examples.
X, I don't really think they see much wrong with torture videos...they see the purpose of the victims of their depravity as unworthy of consideration by virtue of being victims in the first place. Trump is on outlier, because he needs the adulation he knows he will not be accorded by history, unless the coup entirely succeeds. He is demented, I believe, but the dementia still makes him a useful means to the end envisioned by those supporting him with vast amounts of money. What I say is not proven fact, but it sure is, increasingly, my opinion.
After reading that, I feel the need to wash my hands and tablet from the sheer evil and filth I just read. I hope I live to see the day she and everyone in this rotten regime are wearing orange jumpsuits for life.
This piece reminds me of great literary criticism—anyone can read and appreciate a book or story, but a great critique adds volumes of depth, understanding, and wisdom. You did that very, very well here, I think. I’m grateful.
Thank you for this excellent documentation of the hearing. Being able to point to specifics will help when I explain it to my family. And thank you for not giving up. I almost did this week- not numb in my case, but overwhelmed and despairing.
Yet another penetrating, clear-eyed take-down of this entirely disingenuous woman and callow administration. Worst. President (and administration). Ever.
These procedures are taking place between two opposing sides who are putting on a show which appears to be of no benefit to our people here, or our nation abroad.
Those among us who pay any attention know there will be no surprises, that what is being heard is at best a variation on a worn out theme and there is only the slightest chance truth will emerge from either political party
Trump being elected leader of our nation is the natural consequence of accepting lies as a part of our governance. We are a long way from the time of Eisenhower, an honest and straightforward Republican, and longer from a Democrat who told us where the buck stopped.
This is absolutely brilliant writing, and what this brilliant writing does is also provide a support we can hang on to while reading and wanting to retch and vomit. Also, my brain can't handle Bondi's abhorrent behaviour. It wants to explode or scream at her reactions. It is still crying out for an explanation about how someone cannot even look at the victims who were present and not even try to say "I'm sorry" or anything to show one molecule of humanity. Are Bondi, Vance, Trump, and that whole gang the Borg? How can they continue to deny, deny, deny? I am suddenly reminded of some quote attributed to Irma Grese, one of the guards tried at Nuremberg, saying she did what she did because she liked the boots. Is there some horrifically pathetic thing that makes them deny basic humanity??
PS That phrase "the proximity argument as sharp as a blade" was brilliant! And this fangrrl hopes Crockett wins her Senate bid.

Appreciate you. We needed this.
Maggots at least serve a purpose in this world. These Epstein people are barely human.
Barely? Not human at all.
Trump's first DOJ had the files tied up so Garland couldn't do much with them. But he could have prosecuted Trump for 2/06.
Good point. Garland should’ve definitely done that. And made it where he wasn’t allowed to run.

The victims who were there are so brave!
Super thorough, and very helpful for someone who couldn't stomach watching the full four hours (me). Thank you Xplisset.
🙏
Amen!!

I’m attorney general,” Bondi snaps.
“My apologies. I couldn’t tell.”
I am SO proud of Congresswoman Jayapal. She is not in my district but I’m thankful she’s in my state, speaking truth to corrupt power.
Thank you for this excellent documentation of the hearing. Being able to point to specifics will help when I explain it to my family. And thank you for not giving up. I almost did this week- not numb in my case, but overwhelmed and despairing.
Thank you for this. Disgust only begins the list of words I could say about this so called DOJ.
Yet another penetrating, clear-eyed take-down of this entirely disingenuous woman and callow administration. Worst. President (and administration). Ever.
The fact we have someone who has managed to outstrip Andrew Jackson as a monstrous president is both horrify and somehow seems true.
Makes sense that Jackson is someone he "admires"!
Pam Bondi was a political puppet as Attorney General here in Florida. She is still a political puppet with no moral core.
These procedures are taking place between two opposing sides who are putting on a show which appears to be of no benefit to our people here, or our nation abroad.
