Here’s my copy of a Letter to the Editor of the WaPo regarding your comments on Building the Media Army”

The irony of this Letter to the Editor is not lost. This letter is in immediate support and recognition of Xavier Plisset’s comments on the WaPo piece, “How Democrats are building a media Army”. When I sat to write this I first asked the internet what the Editor of a large daily actually does. The text included “to ensure the accuracy, coherence …”

To so insult Dr Richardson by using her image and not naming or recognizing her accomplishments and professional standing fails these two requirements. You disrespected her by the use of her image but not her name, you embarrass yourself by not acknowledging her accomplishments. She has great professional standing: you lost a half million readers. She is nearly apolitical because she is a historian first, a passionate American secondly. She does “accuracy and coherence.” You don’t.

To imply Dr. Richardson is part of the Democratic media Army is like complaining about James Joyce “Ulysses” use of run on sentences … comparing Carl Sagan’s “billions and billions’ of stars to Stephen Hawking’s “A Brief History of Time,” or dismissing Isabella Wilkerson’s “Caste” as a Black woman’s complaint about discrimination, or, concluding cancer research is “really complicated” because you read Sidhartha Mukherjee’s “Song of the Cell.”

After having lived a long life, I realize there are two common outcomes to being fed with a silver spoon. One, it can convey great taste, read: Katherine Graham. The other outcome is to gag the s*&^ out of everyone around you, read: Jeff Bezos.

Please share profusely in your writer’s room the closing comments of Mr. Plisset: maybe the half-million of so readers who have cancelled their subscriptions are not just mad at Jeff Bezos bending the knee but because there is better writing, more clear, more accurate, more timely, in other formats.

I really appreciate your updates Xplisset! The ongoing fire hose of news that is important to cover and they hoped missed. We see your valiant efforts in print. IMHO Respectfully, take time for yourself and loved ones too. It's exhausting and a nightmare. I always love the good news you bring too.

Mariantoon, you my girl lol, you’ve been riding with me since almost the very beginning and I don’t take that for granted. I hear you on the fire hose cause it wears me down too sometimes, but knowing folks like you are reading keeps me steady.

I added a 2:30 pm update today on the Kirk case with the suspect in custody, just to keep the file straight. Thank you for being there through all of this, both the hard weeks and the good news ones.

Great stuff as usuall Xplisett. A child doesn’t have their father. A wife doesn’t have her husband. That’s horrible. Charlie Kirk bathed in racist reckless rhetoric. And He was someone who launched a game changing platform to connect with students on College Campuses. But his rhetoric was appalling. Saying he would think a black pilot was a D.E.I. Hire or that they should do to trans people what they did in the 50’s and 60’s. Just disgusting. This week when the beautiful Ukrainian woman’s video of her being murdered in North Carolina. He had an opportunity to use that as a moment to give his opinion but inform and unite. Instead he race bated and said a reckless statement that she was killed because she was white. He had no evidence or knowledge of that. The man who killed her was a homeless Schizophrenic Monster. And he should’ve been in Jail or an institution. He was out of jail after committing a robbery. So we should be talking about how was the individual on the street using public transportation. We’ve had our issues with metro in California. I’ve donated to the family of a white woman who was rape and killed in the Venice canals. It was a horrific tragedy. We all had to heal. So to hear Charlie and see Charlie say that we don’t care when white women are killed was just untrue. Basically that’s the talk that leads to black people getting harmed. They used to lynch black folks on false allegations and innuendos so he says if a black gets murdered everyone is talking about it. As to say we shouldn’t be talking about George Floyd or Breonna Taylor or Travon Martin? Once again ignorance. As I had the same outrage for those wonderful heroes as I did for the hero Laken Riley and her family. It’s about being a human being and loving all Americans. Too many times in media and general we say Base thier base. How about just saying Americans loving all Americans all people. Immigrants included. So back to Kirk that rhetoric was angry. That wasn’t the time to be speaking like that. The temperature was hot after the video was released. Saying that happened because she was white unleashes a race flame to divide and enrage people. I didn’t like seeing it and agreed with what Van Jones said about it in response on CNN. No one bought up race but Charlie Kirk. Why is that??? As a black man I know what that sounds like. That’s a racist narrative for white women to fear black men. Which leads to profiling as we saw with Travon we know what that leads to. He had a platform he made money off of it. He was successful. He could’ve been a proud republican nothing wrong with that. He didn’t have to dive into racial tropes and homophobic and transphobic narrative. He shouldn’t have been murdered that’s just terrible. His comments about kids having to get shot to protect the 2nd amendment was just wrong ignorant and a reckless statement to make and tone deaf to all the parents who lost kids to mass shootings. I never agreed with his stance on things. Just thought he didn’t use his platform to unite. He used it to divide. As a nation hopefully we can unite and just come together and not allow people to divide us. We are the United States of America. United we stand. Honor to our fallen heroes on 9/11. Thank you for the platform you provide to us Xplissett. You are one of one. Keep it up. And glad I saw your response. This is responsible wonderful journalism on this platform that you provide for us. All should read it. Because you inform us.

Thank you for this list of (mostly) uplifting nuggets. Two in particular got me. #17 about the Detroit program to help revive businesses. That seems like an approach that many communities could replicate to rebuild a small business space. And #29 about the Festival of Joy in Indianapolis. I can only imagine the vibrancy!

Thank you, Deborah. That Detroit piece hit me too—it feels like the kind of thing a lot of cities could copy and actually make work. I also dropped a 2:30 pm update about the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing being in custody. Heavy news, but I wanted to keep the file current. Grateful you caught what spoke to you in here.

As usual, the repression is directed from the top, and the vital resistance has risen from the ground, with a broad solid foundation. This is how we win.

Important developments legacy newsish agencies deem inconsequential, or threatening to the status quo.

Thank you, X.

This is a great post on the truth! NOTE: the author changes the narrative to point out what would happen if Trump weren't insane and the country weren't manipulated by white men. https://www.qasimrashid.com/p/a-white-man-murdered-charlie-kirk?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=2550223&post_id=173447618&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=false&r=mjy3&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email
