Facts, factual reportage and more factual data continue here. That is good. A blessing in fact.

Thank you for the extensive sections on voter suppression moves that aren't getting the press coverage they sorely deserve and need. Also, here's some items about birthright citizenship that I found while doing some research:

The Cato Institute (Libertarian think tank) argues that immigrants, including those in the country illegally, have a positive fiscal impact, reducing US deficits by $14.5 trillion from 1994 to 2023. They contend that immigrants pay more in taxes than they consume in benefits, lowering the public debt-to-GDP ratio, and that without them, national debt would be over 200% of GDP.

Their studies completely contradict hateful Stephen Miller's contention that birthright citizens and immigrants put a burden on U.S. taxpayers.

Then there’s this: A study from the National Foundation for American Policy estimated that ending birthright citizenship would cost ALL PARENTS in the United States $600 in government fees to prove the citizenship status of each baby, and likely an additional $600 to $1,000 in legal fees.

Also: The Nationality Act of 1940 - 1st Comprehensive Codification of U.S. Citizenship (since 1868’s 14th Amendment) - Solidified Birthright Citizenship Rules:

Birthright Citizenship: Codified that individuals born within the U.S. or its territories, as well as children found in the U.S. with unknown parentage, were automatic citizens.

My apologies for going long in your comment section. Again, thank you for all of the hard work you put into keeping us well-informed about some issues and the nuances of them that run under the radar or get lost in some news outlet coverage.

Yet another quiet(?) move from tdump! The goal is to sell off our public lands & forests!

"Late Tuesday afternoon, with the subtlety of a wrecking ball and the morality of a foreclosure notice, the Trump administration announced the most devastating attack on the U.S. Forest Service in the agency’s 121-year history. Not a budget cut. Not a policy shift. Not a “reorganization.” An execution.

They’re ripping the headquarters out of Washington and shipping it to Salt Lake City, Utah — the beating heart of the anti-public-lands movement in America. They’re shuttering every single one of the ten regional offices that have governed this agency since Gifford Pinchot built the system over a century ago — and with them, the career professionals who spent entire lifetimes earning the expertise and the authority to push back when politicians came calling with bad ideas and worse motives. They’re destroying more than fifty research facilities across thirty-one states, labs that house decades of irreplaceable long-term science, the kind you literally cannot restart once it’s gone. And they’re replacing all of it — the offices, the scientists, the institutional knowledge, the professional independence — with fifteen political appointees called “state directors,” embedded in state capitals alongside the very governors, legislators, and industry lobbyists who have spent their careers demanding that the Forest Service log more, protect less, and get out of the way.""

I live near Salt Lake City, and I just heard a bit about this today. Scarcely anything. What I heard was that people are planting devices in the mountains. Why? They didn't say, other than that the mountains might be used for mining, and they would be lost to the public. If I get more, I will post it.
