This was a great post. For sometime now, probably a decade, I've been irritated with the news. I don't watch Fox, although during J6 I flip to Fox to see how they were covering it, anyway, the media is partly responsible for trump success. Then as you're waiting for the breaking news you have to watch 6 commercials about how sick, poor & fat you are, ugh!

I canceled my cable and support independent media. I am satisfied that it was time for me to stop feeding my habit of MSNBC and a “cable package from Spectrum tv”squeezing a shit load of money from me each month. It has zero value to me now. Thanks Xplisset and others!

Amen. I’ve been canceled my cable tv subscription but took even further steps to ban those news channels from my house….wife hates it but she’s coming around.

Cancelled several years back. Could not afford, before “quiet” inflation knocked my home in the head. Heath care ”quiet rise” as ACA was being hustled to market… somehow, seniors were left with “ advantage medicare”… that leaves medical debt when you die. Monthly cheap care that bites you in the end…if you lived LONGER than they estimated you SHOULD. So, no cable for over 12 years or more & no regrets. As long as my eyes keep up with DOLLAR STORE READERS…& life’s common sense that kept me for falling for a traitor named TRUMP— I NEVER NEEDED CABLE. My couch sits fine w/the 5:30 evening news—— me & my $ READERS, knew what was coming … THANKS to forum like this… agrees

or disagree… WE BECOME WOKE…no time for dreaming.

Truth over tribe? How about the following truth:

If you want to know if you are tribal, take a DNA test. If it comes back Homo sapiens, then you are unquestionably tribal. The only question is, what is your tribe? Specifically, who and what (ideas, objects, places, time frame, etc.) do you include by exception? Be aware that everyone and everything else is excluded by default. “Truth” is whatever serves your tribe (aka your largely unconscious perception of a shared social system). Two people perceiving conflicting tribes observing the same reality will inescapably arrive at different “truths.”

Isn’t that obvious? It was obvious to me that I arrived at one truth when I only wanted to serve myself right now, and I arrived at a different truth when my parents convinced their child that the world is about more than just me.

One “truth” is that we are all inescapably part of one tribe. Another “truth” is how we behave. We have two options. Option 1 is to act as if we are part of one tribe needing its health restored but heading in the opposite direction. Option 2 is to act as if “our” truth is the truth and “their” truth is a lie.

MSNBC hosts my three favorite TV shows, which I admit is a low bar these days. I rarely watch anything on Morning Joe or the daytime shows. Unless I’ve got something better to do, I don’t miss Lawrence O’Donnell, Rachel Maddow, or Deadline White House.

Your analysis is spot on and needs to be shouted all over the internet. Has anyone ever heard the mainstream media/MSNBC/FOX (or any corporate media) say, "Sorry we cost you the election by placing our profits over informing the voting public with the truth"? Nope, I doubt it. Instead they said again and again, "We need to sneak in a break...."
