Great critique of a country and a people who don't want to accept what and who they truly are. Juneteenth is an exquisite holiday but does not in any way excuse the systemic racism, misogyny or cruelty of our shared history. We must begin to see who we truly are and that vision must come from us individually and collectively if this country ever becomes a decent place for everyone to enjoy.
Really appreciate your dedication and eye for truth, and even better that it comes so well-written. Today's hit like a cold water plunge, a full-body wake-up call from summertime complacency.
