Damn X. You have a profound way of writing. You couldn’t have put it any better. Keep informing us. What I would say about last night. Do the work. All the candidates need to do the work. Don’t focus on smiling on T.V. And doing magazine covers. We don’t want a celebrity. Just do the work. Get down in your office in the streets and do the work. What was so great about Barack is he did the work. I think democrats as a whole need to make sure they are focused on their messaging and that they are going to work for the people.
Appreciate that, Pasqual. And yep you’re spot on…the work part is the piece we keep skipping over while we chase the optics. I try to write from that same space: no polish, just what it feels like when you’re still in the trenches. Hearing that it lands means a lot. Thanks for showing up and reminding me that the words only matter if they push us all to keep doing the work.
Thanks Appreciate the kind worlds X. Yes you do a great job of writing them from that space. It’s refreshing reading great journalism from yourself. You always bring the great writing and receipts.
X, many thanks for the outstanding report of thoughts and feelings of people in countries around the world. It is both educational and motivational to know what our international neighbors have to say about this week's elections in the Dis-U.S. A+++++++++++++++++
Well done. Thank you. I fully expect Mamdani to do the work, he is a strong combination of eloquence and determination, focused on equality. The Israeli press and politicians lied, of course. Many NY Jews supported and voted for Mamdani. They know genocide when they see it.
X, I have never (60yo, I am) read a post-election article like this. It blew my mind. Totally appreciate the global insights. Loved it and the receipts with citations. Is there a place to buy you a "cup of coffee" on this page?
"Russia laughed, China smirked, France sighed, Nigeria danced, Israel hit the panic button. It felt like your family arguing on stage while the neighbors record it."
Thank you for this summary, X. It's informative and useful, a more succinct version of the sort of thing Claire Berlinski puts out when she has the time. (And I mean that statement as a compliment to both authors). The Israeli press section you quote is hysterical, in both senses of that word.
Thank you, Xplisset. This was a fascinating and informative read and prompted me to upgrade to a Paid subscription! I am fairly new to Voice of America and enjoy your writing very much (as well as your thoughtful comments on other Substacks). Excited to join this community. Keep on keepin’ on, brother! 👏🏽

Excellent reporting. After reading this piece I feel like I am a man of the world. Keep up the excellent reporting.
You are an awesome writer, such an insightful summary of different perspectives!
P.S. I can't believe it: I just liked all the comments. Strong writing begets strong commenting. Quite the community here.

Yeah, pure genius metaphors!
Mr. X, sending you a chef's kiss for this masterful piece!
