I didn’t roll into this with a PhD or a cushy think-tank gig. I came here with bruises from the street and twenty years of writing dry-as-chalk police reports. The kind of “just the facts” pages that trained me to erase my own voice. That tone worked in the cruiser, but it won’t work here. So now I’m pulling 22-hour stretches, breaking that habit, bleeding soul back into every line while still leaning on the investigative instincts that never left me.
I may not have advanced degrees, but I’ve got advanced street skills and those have carried this newsletter to 600+ subscribers in under two months and even caught a heart tap from Robert Reich.
