Wow! Thanks! Ah, the crown. The one I have worn for decades is invisible. Only I know the reminder that I am the Queen of Senseless Beauty. I no longer feel a need to explain my elegant, authentic intentional integrity. Most crowns are inferior have heavy tarnishing which always crumbles. ❤️
I choose rain. Rain represents the harder path in my mind. I'm not afraid of a challenge and I am not afraid of change, although like a cat, I embrace change reluctantly. But everybody who knows me knows that I will not give up on myself, my family, friends, my people or anything else. I am in it to win it with grace and dignity all of the time!
I will always choose rain. My rebellion is my survival to thriving in life. I am always a little disappointed when others do not choose rain. Not everyone has the courage to do so.
Renegade, I see you. ‘My rebellion is my survival to thriving’ right there I’m saving that line. Choosing rain is courage in public; when others can’t yet, we stand in it anyway and make room. What sentence from the piece would you hand the next person still under the crown? I’ll pin it.
I made my way to the end of your post. I will be reading and looking into more of the post bc I am slow to comprehend so much depth as I find in your writing and posts. To quickly respond to you, it would be the song by Prince, Purple rain. It makes me weep to think of the times we are in. I fear the bloodshed and the resistence by many in America wanting truth and speaking the truth! I feel that I have not known the truth about how black people and other minorities have struggled... so many wearing the crown to be accepted and live their lives. I think I understand on a superficial level what the crown means. IMHO the crown is trying to be accepted by a majority white sociaety to find progress and prosperity. Maybe I need to read your post again to understand the crown. IMHO Purple Rain was a no brainer for me. My heart is aching though.
Marian, thank you for sitting with this. Your ache is the right response. When I say crown, I mean the performance we put on to be accepted and safe ….image over people, control over truth. Rain is the opposite: letting grief be seen so we can choose people first and repair what’s broken. That’s why Purple Rain hits — it gives us permission to feel and then act with mercy. You pretty much named it: the crown is trying to be accepted by a majority. The rain is belonging without erasing ourselves
I don't agree with theology of punishment at all! IMHO Christian nationalists and felon 47 swing from the rafters in their fake MAGA towers like evil villians looking for prey.

Marian, honored you’re here. What line made you choose rain

It makes me think deeply and longingly about leadership.
Theology of punishment or retribution theology...you get what you deserve.

Nationalist "Christians" = Nat Cs.
