I subscribed today. I’m mostly a reader, but you say what is real. I worked in Philadelphia as a Visiting Nurse for many years and before that in Community Mental Health. People are people. Some folks those snowflakes are scared of watched over me and broke into my car when I locked the keys inside. I’m 75 now and am still not very afraid, even though I don’t have my official role anymore. I smile a lot and look people in the eye. Keep up your great reporting 👹stay fierce
Brilliant reporting. I love the way you paint the picture, complete with sound descriptions! I just finished Twain's A Connecticut Yankee . . . and felt like I was back as I read some parts of this post. Bravo!
"why is the bassline of fear always louder than the treble of truth?" This truth speaks loudly to me. Thanks for saying it. I was freaked out this morning watching Morning Joe, usually reliably left leaning, drone on about the scary crime vibe in DC, statistics be damned. That scared me. Joe Scarborough may be an asshole sometimes, but he's smart and must know this is bullshit.
Honestly, it takes me a minute to re read, look up links like Rock the casbah song, meaning and lyrics by The Clash. Back in 1980’s I was a new mom, worked full time and mostly night shift. Don’t remember this song referenced but do remember, should I stay or should I go…less complicated, it stuck.
Agree the problem is grave, mainstream corporate media journalists are threatened by law suits and run by billionaires buying the back up singers and song! Sticky headlines…Monopoly owners like kings deciding the narrative and no need for boring truth. Sadly propaganda is entering into distracted, anxiety weakened, burned out minds just scrolling w/clicks. I want and hope all but mostly young Americans understand what’s true. Push back on the oligarchy and propaganda!
I’m so glad to have read your insightful comment on Robert Reich’s post this morning which inspired me to read several of your in-depth, perceptive essays — and to subscribe.
I’d dropped my subscription to WaPo a couple of years ago because of my disgust with their shift to support a particular corporate/oligarchy agenda, their right wing boot-licking and “journalist” whitewashing.
I decided to remain on their email list to at least stay aware of their narrative shaping headlines.
I very much appreciate your analysis of the narrative-shaping being done by WaPo and other so-called news outlets. Thank you for your voice.

Once again delivering the goods. Wow! I am shaking my head like a bobble-head doll on the dashboard at 135mph or so.
Restacked!
