"The people most likely to pay first are not the architects of the war but the families tied closest to military service and the households already living near the edge. Fuel shocks, economic strain, and the moral fog that follows shifting war justifications always land harder on people with the least cushion."
To be honest, Israel earns enough blame for Gaza, Iran, Lebanon, Syria - lets see, what other country have they invaded? So yeah, maybe they are off the hook for Iraq!
As Timothy Snyder said on a 2'11" video he posted today on "Thinking About...", this ass-hat should never have been named to the position and then approved by the toady Senate (including Democrats). Like all the appointees (secretaries, US attorneys, all the rest of the loyalist clown show), the Peter Principle prevails again.
The Democrats should have gummed up the works from the jump. No legislation gets passed, no nominees get confirmed, no comity, no taking the high road. Filibuster everything. "Sand in the gears" should have been the plan, but they failed. For what reason, I do not know.
We need a revolution. More properly, a re-LOV-Elution.
This upheaval will be based on compassion and care for others. It will be a government that helps people, that provides for those who struggle to meet their needs, and we will not demonize it for doing so.
"Prosperity for all" will be a real thing. Housing and food and an education and being able to see a doctor when you need to. This new government will no longer use these as weapons of policy, as cudgels against the populace. We're talking a fair shake and a square deal for all, including our brothers and sisters in D.C. and Puerto Rico, and adding them as states.
For Congress, it means a rejection of the current corporate duopoly. It means holding to account those who have betrayed our nation and its principles (however aspirational). Truth and then reconciliation. Trials, a full airing of the evidence, and if convictions, prison. It means clarifying the Constitution and removing ambiguities and language that is wielded by nefarious actors against the people and which no longer serves the principles articulated by our Founders (however inelegantly practiced).
For the Executive, it means tighter controls, greater limitations, and delineated qualifications for the office. At a minimum, felons won't be eligible for the office and tax returns must be submitted for qualified candidates.
For the Supreme Court, it means instituting term limits, an enforced code of ethics, and expanding its number.
For the Fourth Estate, well, hell, I don't know what it means for the press, but it could start with their strapping on a pair and remembering their charge to hold our supposed "leaders" to account.
It means no billionaire control and love of country. Revolution. Now.
This guy is telling you. He’s being noble. He’s not being partisan. So if he told us behind scenes. It’s bullshit. And I told y’all Netenyahu pulled us into this. And this was his personal war. What now? How do we keep doing this? Vance was against it and then said that bullshit touted the company line. So this guy and Vance what does that tell you? This is insane.
Very interesting analysis of Kent’s letter. I did not read before this about his background. Israel’s extremes are not news to anyone and Netanyahu is a war criminal, at least wanted on such charges, and has led his country to genocide in Gaza. All the while the US has backed them up with money, with weapons. This is Trump’s
’ War. Yeah, he was probably goaded into it more by Kushner and his buddies the Saudis than anything else.
This link to a propublica article was in a comment on LFAA. It's a long read, but certainly tells of how much waste our politicians & top ranking military officials have been and are contributing to all of us! (speaking of waste and abuse -not something doge looked at, I guess)!
As I said, it takes time but boy they sure did a lot of investigation.

Well said Xplisset!
Yeah, the letter reads like an excuse to blame all US and Trump warmongering on Israel. The Iraq war was "manufactured" by Israel? Bs.
Agreed. Totally sleezy to blame Israel for the Iraq war.

I wonder if Kent is afraid to directly blame Trump and instead leans toward blaming Israel.

I'm mighty tired of all the GOP that grow a spine on their way out the door.
