We must persist to legally end this wave of extreme right-wing crimes against humanity and democracy.! All we have to fear is fear itself! United we stand! We shall overcome!

The effects of this ruling are serious. First Louisana, and then other predominantly Black states. This article states it clearly. I invite you to Denver Riggleman's Substack. Denver is a former Congressman from Virginia and the author of The Breach, the only book that dives deep into January 6 and the committee's work. A few weeks ago, Denver posted two chapters from that work. He outlines the steps that the administration (including Supreme Court) can take to ensure Republicans win the Primary Election.

This is one of those steps: Find a way to cancel the Primaries. This has now happened in Louisana, and other states plan to follow. I suggest you go to Denver's Substack post where you can download the two chapters from his book: https://denverriggleman.substack.com/p/free-book-chapters-the-breach-chapter

I have this urge to say more... cuz' I'm scared and as Xpisset said in a comment, "I need to get this off my chest"... I guess, I just need to talk...

When people talk about defeating the magas and tRump I get more and more frustrated... they're in the minority and their numbers are dwindling... it's those folks who don't vote, the ones who've checked out, don't "do" politics--they're the ones we need to show up if we get to vote in November, unlike last time when they could have made a difference for VP Kamala Harris. Seriously, the maga-morons were never the real problem. But having the American voters fighting each other is better than them paying attention to the man behind the curtain. I'm beginning to wonder the same about the Epstein files... are they using it as smoke screen and mirrors, too? (not to diminish the seriousness of the Epstein case, just that it's not the proverbial football in this game).

The most worrisome part for me is what happens if the Dems pull this off and take both the house and the senate? A good share of them are corporate dems, licking the feet of their monied gods, and another bunch don't know how to weld the power they have. Politics have changed. Trump's regime and Project 2025 did that... it's not polite speeches, endorsements and baby kissing anymore. The Heritage Foundation is a serious threat to our Democracy and they're not playing around. They've planned this for decades and finally, they found their Trojan Horse, tRump.

I don't know how people don't see the writing on the wall... Project 2025 is so calculated/organized and they're rolling it out step by step... Donald Trump is a joke even to them, they don't care about him outside of his performance, they don't care about his crimes or the magas! It's all a means to an end. Trump is just egregious enough to keep everyone distracted while they chisel away at our democracy. And, he's good... he's such a polarizing figure, exactly what they needed!!

And, there is no going back, what was, was never good enough... it lulled white Americans, the majority, into thinking everything was okay, life was good and getting better... we're so "valley of the dolls", we've been duped by our own propaganda--it's like we were drugged! One of our fatal mistakes was not standing up for communities who weren't our own, e.g., the black, immigrant or queer communities... thinking it didn't affect us because, mostly, it didn't--not then anyway, and what we failed to see, if the powers that be, can oppress and control one facet of our population, they can control all facets of our population. And, guess what, now they're coming for us white america, if we're not on board with the white supremist chrisitan right... we're now a public enemy. No more mister nice guy... those days are gone. Watch... their next strategic move, they're coming for women! They want to take away our vote and reduce us to chattel again.

Our ideals of yester year are gone... we, on the left, don't even have a rug underneath our feet. When the highest law of the land turns against us, our only hope is we get to vote this November and that some of those folks we put into office will find the backbone to do the right and courageous thing... it's going to take generations to undo all the wrong that's already been done. We'll never recoup all the monies that have been plundered and wasted. We might even have to burn the house down and start over...

All of it, everything you’ve said is spot on! If it’s any comfort you are not alone in your analysis, millions of us stand with you!

We the working people have been subjugated by both parties, these traitors to the people are beholden to corporate interests and mega donors!

Until we remove Citizens United from the process and seriously consider campaign finance reform we will always be pushing the rock up the mountain.

My hope is this time will be the catalyst that drives a majority to make real change by finally electing representatives who have a clear understanding and will use this moment to enact fundamental change to our captured Democracy.

Hope stands eternal!

💪👊💛🙏

I really needed to hear this today... thank you. I seriously appreciate your comment! Millions? I'm hoping. Yes, on removing Citizens United and yes, we need campaign finance reform... and I'd throw in term limits and a dozen other reforms to stop our civil servants from making bank on our watch... we have so much work to do.

I feel like I'm on a bus going downhill at 100 mph and picking up speed fast, no way to veer off... just headed for impact at the bottom. It's all so much, hitting us from every angle. They did their homework and they came back swinging... the other side, our side, has been shuffling down the sidewalk enjoying the weather, mostly content. This has become a white man's fight; we've allowed this shit to go unchecked and it's time to accept responsibility and start the clean up on isle 47... and, until white Americans accept their role and responsibility and actually do something, we're headed for a Jim Crow type America, lead by some of the worst racist, hateful, fascist, regressive, misogynistic bible thumping hypocrites we've ever experienced... oh, and this time it won't be just our black brothers and sisters who suffer, hang from trees and are beaten bloody and treated like animals... it'll be you with that too progressive egalitarian attitude and you with your mixed/same sex family or you who worship that other religion, and you thinking you've got the right to speak on your own behalf... and, even you, who thinks nothing that bad could happen... buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride!!

That is the part Nina that people keep trying not to hear: this is not “just” a Black voting-rights issue. America has always tested its anti-democratic machinery on Black people first, but once the machinery works, it just doesn’t stay there.

It comes for immigrants, queer families, religious minorities, women, teachers, librarians, workers, dissenters, and eventually anybody who thought private decency would protect them from public authoritarianism.

And yeah, u bet they did their homework. They studied the courts, the maps, the calendars, the language, the loopholes, and the exhaustion. The rest of us have to stop treating every new blow like a surprise and start acting like people who understand the bus has no brakes unless enough of us grab the wheel. Thank you for making me write this. I had to get that out of my system.

I think that more of those misguided non-affluent voters who went along with this dishonest ridiculous murderous gang of racist traitors must wake up soon and realize that these crimes, if not ended soon, are going to destroy them, too. The Democrats can and must take back both houses of Congress this November.

Trumpian fools will eventually self-destruct and crumble under the weight of their own enormous overweight egos (if we persist and keep hope alive and put all our energies into bringing them down and into raising up the honorable good-hearted downtrodden millions of average folks who just ask, "Can't we all just get along?").

The poet, essayist, and activist for social justice, Audre Lorde, said: "It is not our differences that divide us but our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences." It is my hope and my belief that together we can help that old arc of history bend a little more quickly toward the justice we know is possible. We've come closer with Obama, Biden, and Harris. I will keep on keepin' on, and I regret that I have but one life to give for this cause...

Xplisset, thank you for responding to my comment, I'm flattered and it's comforting, in a weird way, to at least, know my head is in a similar space... I value your opinion! And, thank you for allowing me to vent here... I'm scared and it feels like an impossible task trying to get people on board quickly... the midterms are only months away. I'm old, I won't be around to fight the big battles--it's the young and they're the target for indoctrination. Please keep writing and sharing!

The entreaties of encouragement from people like you keeps me right here in the seat writing. I ain’t going nowhere.

NinaMatilda's avatar

I didn't just like this, I love this... we feed off of each other... whatever it takes, we've got work to do!

It's unconscionable.

It’s Jim Crow without the signs on the water fountains and bathrooms.

Don't worry. If they have their way, the signs will be back.

I can't 'like' this comment but not because I disagree. Not at all. I do agree most wholeheartedly Mister Bender.

…and democrats think oh once we get in we’ll go back to normal again…there’s no going back. This country no…this world is so fuc*ed up from this asshole being around for the last 10 years that we can never ever go back to normal or whatever the Christ we were before he showed up. Even when he wasn’t president he was on the news every day saying something with his stupid face in everything and now he’s putting his stupid face ON everything

He started this process the day he came down those gold stairs…he’s just getting warmed up

Xplisset's avatar

The analogy is that of an attempted murder suicide. You cannot just pretend that it didn’t happen and proceed as things are normal. Of course not.

I cannot help but think that this will backfire on them
