Respectfully, I'm not sure that it matters if American military are attacked by Iran or not. The U.S., under presidents saner and less criminally-minded than Donald Trump, has a history of avoiding conflict where the enemy can self-defend until pushed to do so (WWII), but gleefully goes after countries deemed weak enough to be easily conquered (North Vietnam, Grenada, Iraq) always claiming a threat that may or may not be real and actual (Gulf of Tonkin; WMDs in Vietnam and Iraq respectively) or attacked nations where American business was threatened, either by direct military intervention (Grenada) or via usually secretive interventions (various Latin American nations). This has been done either legally (with congressional approval) or illegally; overtly or covertly. So my point is that if Trumpians decide, given the pressures on the home front over cost-of-living increases, which can't even be disguised from devout MAGAs, and increasing disclosures about the Epstein files, ditto, that all out war is required and damn soon, the reason will magically appear. It always does. Already Trump is claiming Iran has or is on the verge of developing, intercontinental ballistic missiles, which is absurd, and claiming both that Iran's nuclear capability was "obliterated" (the only word ever used...can someone get these people a thesaurus?), and that they are on the verge of being able to strike, gasp, the American homeland and that is both totally absurd but enough to cause survivalists to stock up on extra ammo and a spike in the manufacture of bomb shelters and canned goods. Wars are excellent for business and a good, solid war will stimulate domestic production of real stuff...things made of steel that can "obliterate" all in their path. Pete Hegseth is having wet dreams over this chance to kill people people who aren't simply sitting in fast moving fishing boats, but shooting back, albeit with inadequate weapons. The videos will be fantastic, and on the news every evening. Things might, just might, again work out for Trump after all.
Gee another middle eastern war. How many US sleeper cells have been activated? We wouldn't know as the people who monitored this activity were fired and departments eliminated. How quickly people forget.
I fear for our country and the men and women who will be pulled into this conflict. Is it possible that the US will be targeted and we'll see war come here?
