I Have to Make a Decision About XVOA on July 30
Four dollars is all that came in last week. If the monthly support stays where it is, the regular news side of XVOA goes away.
If I have to go back to work full time, I have to reduce XVOA to a novel-update site. I hate saying that because it sounds like a broken clock after a while. There have already been four campaigns like this around the end of the month. All four succeeded. The last one took two weeks to fulfill, and then here came another month.
That is why I pulled the money ask back. I gave up on repeating the $50-a-day floor and went back to one of those vague little support paragraphs down at the bottom. It is not working. As of July 25, four dollars is all that came in this past week. Less than $100 came in over the past two weeks. Contributions are down about $1,000 for the month, and more paid subscriptions are leaving than new ones are coming in to replace them.
The immediate cash shortfall is $700 by July 30. I could run a fifth campaign and maybe get that handled. I am reluctant because XVOA is still about $2,000 short every month after the subscriptions already coming in. I would finish another campaign and be right back here.
If the monthly support stays where it is, I go back to work full time. XVOA becomes mainly the Author’s Room and a novel-update site. News might come out once every two weeks when I can get to it. The regular livestreams, Blackout Briefs and podcasts go away. Those are all labor- and research-intensive, and they already require every hour in the day.
