The Supreme Court suffers the motto "Equal Justice Under Law" that is inscribed on their edifice, while contriving opinions that patently and cynically profane that aspiration. Possessing no legal training, is cannot say with certainty that gerrymandering and similar schemes to deny equal shares of representation and legal influence to anyone, let alone millions, violates the law,. Yet it is a crime against the entire concept of justice, and unalienable human rights asserted by our founding documents; and a history of applying those principles unevenly is no excuse whatever for ignoring them. That commitment equal justice is why even unintended lapses of its diligent pursuit demands repair; which is to say nothing of obstruction by blatant corruption. For our government to derive just powers from the consent of the governed, the whole of the governed must be included. A nation is which some govern while others subjugated, or left aside, is to that degree a tyranny. The beating heart of a democratic republic is the right to vote. Undermine that, and the whole social/legal infrastructure is left unsound. Lincoln got that, and it seems to me few speak of him much any more; but that's why that big monument (that Trump seeks to overshadow) was erected.
The right to vote and be counted, no more or no less that any other citizen, in the electoral process is sacred, and an actual government of, by, and for the people requires that be so.
The world just keeps on turning & the haters keep the hatred burning. That's life in America.
PS: Restacked with a vengence, of course!
Thank you for this report. Excellent job!!!!
