Once again, Xplisset -- wow!!!! "the law is not sacred because it is written. The law is sacred only when it protects the living from power." A powerful truth. But even more so is your analysis and exposure of what is really happening when Justice Jackson is dismissed for being "extreme," etc. Thank you for naming what is happening. Thank you!

Xplisset's avatar

Merrie, thanks. That line is really the whole argument: law is not holy because somebody dressed it up in robes, marble, and footnotes.

Now, once procedure starts protecting power from the people, citizens have to object.

Blister inducing cause it's all too true. Thank you for opening more eyes to the pattern.

Xplisset's avatar

Thank you for your encouragement. Thank you.

You are most welcome. More welcome than that young man!

I was bornt in 1960 when we still used pine cones for EVERYTHING! Even had a pinecone computer powered by squirrels. Hahaha. Those were the days!

Supremely well written and supremely insightful. The six majority "Justices" on SCOTUS are supremely bigoted, supremely disingenuous, and supremely corrupt.

Xplisset's avatar

Thank you. I’ll take “supremely insightful” and not to let it go to my head lol.

But yeah, that’s the move: bury the damage in procedure, then make Justice Jackson sound extreme for pointing at it. Once they turn the witness into the problem, the public stops looking at what the witness saw.

X, this one is a doozie! (compliment, by the way). I'll post it on a couple other blogs - it requires more sunshine! As you said, I doubt there are many women (black & white) who havent experienced some kind of - for the lack of a better name - put-downs. And frankly, these old bustards (mostly old) think they can get away with it. The far-reaching effects of these folks who thing putting on a black robe makes them invincible - well, we will see.

She was an affirmative action appointment, the start. Biden would only look at black female judges, not a way to build a sound court. Jackson was not on the list of a single lawyer knowledgeable about the court — including wish lists of liberal Con law professors and practitioners. Even Breyer had his doubts. Jackson has been belligerent in session and interrupts other judges, which is not done. And some of her opinions are of a sort that attracts “put downs.”

⬆️⬆️TROLL ALERT!!!⬆️⬆️⬆️

"A Kauffmann" is a troll attempting to infiltrate left-leaning forums.

It attempts to rile people up, and failing that, tries to impress readers by writing somewhat intelligently--in grammar but sadly not in facts. Total pretzel logic.

DON'T FEED THE TROLL.

If you mistakenly do, ignore any responses it sends you. It seeks to undermine your resolve, and it is VERY VERY AFRAID of your power.

Xplisset's avatar

I just wiped mention of him from the text. Thank you for this.

Miselle's avatar

You're welcome. I didn't want you to be needlessly upset by someone whose intent was to do just that.

In other words, she speaks out in disagreement of the SIX conservative(Republican) justices. AND she's female and (shocking) black!

Considering the "emergency" decisions and the "shadow court" decisions - and the lifetime appointments of these justices? Belligerence and interruptions - certainly not done by a female black justice - but seemingly a-ok for any of the Six?

I imagine she's been well educated on "put downs" over her life and career.

Thank you Francine for this. I’m truly humbled and yes I will keep writing.

Thank you for all of your work. I share it!

Also, I have tried your buy me a coffee button several times and can't seem to get it to work. Is there a secret? Malfunction? Help!

I've tried 6 times to buy him a coffee, with different credit cards and using the link he provides, but nothing works. The "kind words" I added usually went something like "It's the greatest mystery of all time that Voice of America isn't followed and supported by hundreds of Substack readers!"

Xplisset's avatar

Do you have CashApp? Or Zelle? The Fundraiser itself is closed so no emergency but I can always use funds if you are still willing.

Kitty Hartford's avatar

I only use my credit card or Paypal, which may be the problem. I was able to be a paid subscriber but have never figured out how to Donate or Buy Coffee. I'm old-school...no TV, no smartphone, and only one credit card through my local bank. Do you take cash, check, or barter for services?!

Xplisset's avatar

Here is the barter service. If you’ve figured out how to restack me…do that…and with a note even better. Restacks are like a secret weapon that feeds the algorithm and helps spread the work which eventually results in more subscribers if enough people restack. That’s how I’ve made it this far.

Good one. Thank you.

So well said! I'm old enough to have watched women get credit in their own name and be able to leave bad marriages. I thought the floor would hold but with this SC, it always seems there's a new low. The corrupt and smug trio that used bullying language to dismiss Justice Jackson are being very obvious now.

Old Man with a Dog's avatar

It will only get worse as the Republican Party squeezes the “others” out of the Party! You can see it coming.

Xplisset's avatar

Yep you betcha Old Man with a Dog. Btw your name brings a smile to my face man.

Anyway, the scary part is they’re not even hiding the machinery anymore.

First “others” become a political problem. Then a legal problem. Then the courts start narrowing who gets protected.

That’s why Jackson’s warnings matter. She’s pointing at the squeeze before it becomes the cage.

Old Man with a Dog's avatar

I appreciate your answer!

My semester is over and now I must find a way to hold and organize your wonderful essays for next fall because I want to share with my students (classes have strong race and racism themes)
