The warning by Justice K. Brown Jackson about the injustice of the court swiftly moving to support Louisiana's blatant unconstitional racism reminds me of the name of Hitler's Nazi attack to start World War II: "Blitzkrieg" = "Lightning War." The six on the court who are in Trump's pocket should be disbarred and liable to charges of treasonously making war on the American system of justice.
I feel these days like I'm living in the Upside-Down, or in the book 1984 - up is down, war is peace, evil is good, racism is equality, injustice is right-sizing, despoiling the planet is cleansing. I keep having to remind myself that people of different skin tones or first languages than me have always lived in the Upside-Down in Amerika. The scope of the evil afoot in our country is breathtaking, literally.
March, carry placards, show up at local meetings, contact your representatives, run for office. Sing protest songs together. (Really - that actually works!!) Don't forget to take time out to replenish, and don't forget to hug your families and communities, original and chosen. Have each other's backs.
I heard Justice Jackson interviewed on NPR when she was selected to sit on SCOTUS. She is probably the most brilliant, articulate, compassionate, learned, broad-perspective justice we have on the court. We are lucky to have such a justice. What she must be going through on that court!!!
""We could, if we were respectful of nature, or our grandchildren, transform our system by reducing consumption, setting aside continental scale refugia, areas of tens of millions of acres like the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act would provide. We could implement continental scale wildlife migration corridors so populations could survive as climate warming drives them to move, or they can blink out. We could aim for E.O. Wilson’s Half Earth. Better buckle up and get to work and make the transformation, shouldn’t we?""
Right, Adam, and let's all remember the phrase that the late great poet Maya Angelou quoted in her memoir: "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," that is that her mother advised her on many occasions: "Hope for the best, and plan for the worst." I still firmly believe that together we can set the caged birds free at last...FREE AT LAST!

Justice Jackson did not hold back! Which no doubt earns her backlash - at least from Alito and Thomas - the two most corrupt justices.
I'm sure over her lifetime, she has learned how to deal with that kind of misogyny and racist crap before she ever met these two.

Another well-written warning! Thanks, Xplisset!
Don't forget to stockpile foodstuffs just in case everybody! We may be getting a bad surprise by July.

Right there with ya Frank. I make sure to keep hope in my heart, food in my belly and steel in my spine.
